The mark is drawn by hand in the woodcut tradition — one color, hard edges, no shading — then printed direct-to-garment in black, here in Honolulu. Water-based ink goes into the cotton rather than sitting on top of it, so there is no plastic hand, nothing to crack or peel, and the weave still reads through the black.
